Rosa Tyhurst is a Welsh curator and art writer presently working as curator at Gasworks, London. Until recently, Rosa was Curator of Exhibitions at Nottingham Contemporary where she contributed to exhibitions by Carolyn Lazard and Abbas Zahedi. Prior that she was Assistant Curator of Exhibitions and Public Programmes at Spike Island in Bristol where she contributed to exhibitions on/by Denzil Forrester, Veronica Ryan, Peggy Ahwesh, Candice Lin, Tanoa Sasraku, Rosemary Mayer and Lawrence Abu Hamdan, alongside numerous public events and artist development programmes. Before Spike Island, Rosa held positions at KADIST, San Francisco; the De Young Museum, San Francisco; Limoncello, London and the Barbican Centre, London, as well as in the studios of artists Alice Channer and David Batchelor.
Rosa has curated exhibitions and programmes internationally, at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Torino; the Wattis Institute, San Francisco; Cloaca, San Francisco; Royal Nonesuch Gallery, Oakland and DREI, Köln. Her writing has been published in Art Monthly, Elephant, Hyperallergic, Contemporary Art Reviews Los Angeles, ArtPractical, and she has contributed to publications on Veronica Ryan, Candice Lin and Peggy Ahwesh. She is a graduate of California College of the Arts’ MA in Curatorial Practice (2018).
